Step by Step Import Processes in Nigeria
1. Creating Shipment: Here you are concluding with the supplier, and reaching an agreement on the details of the trade transaction. A sale contract is signed bewteen you, the buyer and the seller at this stage.
2. Documentation and Supplier Obligations: Upon signing a sale contract, your supplier will transmit Profoma Invoice (PFI) and Product Certificate (if regulated by SON) to you in Nigeria.
3. Collation of Shipping Document: Importer of commodity into Nigeria will then collates Pre-Import Documentation (e- Form M, PFI, Insurance, relevant permit, e.g NAFDAC if regulated).
4. E-form M filling: Importer fills the e- Form M online (www.trade.gov.ng) and upload relevant documents and submit it.
5. Document management by Banker: the documents are transmitted to the selected Bank for review and endorsement, and then transmit same to Nigerai customs service (NCS)
6. Approval & register of Form M is done by the NCS.
